A European standard test for contamination of harmful substances. This test is especially relevant for worktops, toys and kitchen utensils.

Food contactable

If you wish to avoid a spillover of harmful substances from worksurfaces to food then look for the Glass and fork symbol. The manufacturer has to document that the surface treatment of the product does not release release harmful substances into food products. This is tested by an independent third party who assesses the composition of the product. Look for the symbol!

IBR

Voluntary labelling that ensures the best possible indoor climate as well as minimum of bad odours and other forms of contamination. The product is tested by a third party independent examiner.

Recommendation:

Wait 24 hours before putting furniture on the floor. Wait 5 days before covering with carpets and washing. If drying times are not followed, this can result in poor adhesion and reduced resistance. For each coat of lacquer, drying times will be increased. High temperature and low air humidity will reduce drying times. Low temperature and high air humidity will extend drying times.

Fully hard:

Master RD-2K Lacquer is a water-based, two-component, fast-drying floor lacquer that works with an isocyanate-free cross-linking hardener. It is intended for public areas with intense heavy traffic, such as canteens and stairs, due to its exceptionally strong protection, high slip resistance and extreme resistance to black heel marks, scratches and stains. The lacquer is completely clear and beautifully preserves the light look of the wood. This indoor climate labelled lacquer is applied in a convenient and safe way, and ensures a comfortable indoor climate afterwards.

It is important that both wood and lacquer have a temperature of min. 15°C (preferably around 20°C) and air humidity of approx. 50%. Make sure that the room is well-ventilated for optimal evaporation and drying time. For the final sanding to bare wood, use grit 100-120 sandpaper or sanding pad. Vacuum thoroughly and wipe the floor down afterwards, using a tightly-wrung water-soaked mop/cloth. Please note: WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner can help to remove contaminates from fully sanded wooden floors before priming or lacquering. Please allow floor to fully dry overnight. The floor must be completely dry before priming. When priming, use WOCA Master Base Primer for newly sanded wood to reduce side bonding. Alternatively, try WOCA Master Multi Primer for exotic wood species or old wood previously treated with oil or wax.

Always remember to test on a less visible spot to check the compatibility of the surface with the product.

  1. Apply the primer. When dry, mix with the lacquer and shake thoroughly before use. Leave the mixture to stand for ten minutes before use, to allow the hardener to activate.
  2. A coat of Lacquer should be applied undiluted, using a brush or roller. Leave the surface to dry until next day.
  3. Sand the surface with and vacuum clean the surface thoroughly.
  4. Apply the final coat of with hardener (freshly mixed).
Water and coloured fluids, such as red wine and coffee, must be wiped off immediately to prevent staining.
