Certifications

DiBt
DIBt is a German institute that tests and issues technical approvals for building materials. The aim is to improve the working climate for floor installers whilst ensuring a safe indoor air quality for the final consumer.
DIN EN 16516 emission test
EN 71-3
European standard ensuring that materials do not release toxic substances in amounts harmful to children. Particularly relevant for materials such as toys, kitchen utensils, worktops and furniture.
Bio-Based ASTM 6866
Biobased Carbon Content ASTM D6866-22 is an international standard method utilized for product testing. The result is reported as % Biobased Carbon. This indicates the percentage carbon from ‘natural’ (plant or animal by-product) sources.
Emission Class A+
The French labeling system is a mandatory classification of materials, such as floor treatment products, based on their VOC emissions to indoor air. A+ is the highest rating, indicating improved indoor air quality with very low emissions.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) supports greater transparency and documented sustainability. EPDs present verified data on a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle, based on recognized standards and third-party verification.
Bio-Based ASTM 6866
Biobased Carbon Content ASTM D6866-22 is an international standard method utilized for product testing. The result is reported as % Biobased Carbon. This indicates the percentage carbon from ‘natural’ (plant or animal by-product) sources.
Food Contact Material (FCM)

The glass and fork symbol indicates that the product complies with the requirements for Food Contact Materials (FCM) according to Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, confirming it is safe to come into direct or indirect contact with food.

The manufacturer must document that the surface treatment does not release harmful substances when in contact with food. To ensure this high level of food safety laboratory tests are carried out by an independent third party.

So, look for the FCM label when treating wooden surfaces such as kitchen and dining tables.

Product Details

Worktop Oil is an air-hardening oil that penetrates deep into the wood, leaving a tough water- and stain-resistant surface. The oil highlights the wood’s natural glow and gives the surface a natural, fresh appearance. Worktop Oil is safe for food contact and can be used on surfaces that are untreated or that have previously been oil-treated and sanded.

Always remember to test on a less visible spot to check the compatibility of the surface with the product.

  • Sand old and previously treated surfaces with GRIT 180 sandpaper. Vacuum clean the surface thoroughly.
  • Thoroughly clean the surface with Intensive Wood Cleaner, mixed 1:20. Then wash with clean water. After cleaning, leave the surface to dry for at least 12-24 hours
  • Stir the Oil carefully before and during use. Container with different batch numbers should be mixed before use to avoid differences in shade and gloss.
  • Use a paintbrush to distribute an appropriate amount of oil in an even, covering coat. If possible, the reverse side of the work surface should also be given a coat of oil.
  • Wait approx. 30 minutes at 20°C, while the oil soaks into the wood. Apply more oil if dry areas appear.
  • Polish with the Hand Scrubber Flex Kit White along the direction of the wood grain. This will make the surface more durable.
  • Then wipe off all excess oil with a lint-free cotton cloth. No excess oil should remain on the surface.
  • Allow the surface to rest for an hour and repeat steps 3 to 7.
  • The surface should be treated two or three times before use. For the final treatment sand in wet oil with 320-400, before wiping off with a lint-free cotton cloth.
  • The oiled surface can be used after 24 hours at 20 degrees. During this period, the surface must not come into contact with water. The oil does not harden completely until after about a week. Therefore, treat with care during this period. Any spilled liquids should be wiped up immediately.
  • Wood humidity must not exceed 18%. High temperature and low air humidity will reduce drying times. Low temperature and high air humidity will extend drying times. The worktop should be maintained at least once a year, or when necessary. For a superior result, use Worktop Oil or WOCA Maintenance Gel. For a more thorough restoration, follow the entire procedure.
