A beautiful bamboo façade deserves the right care to keep performing for years to come. At the innovative SPEEHUIS, designed by SPEE Architects, the untreated MOSO Bamboo X-treme cladding had been exposed to nature for 5–6 years. Surrounded by trees, the surface developed fungus and green growth and needed a refresh.

After an on-site consultation and product demonstration, the bamboo shell and roof were thoroughly cleaned with WOCA Deep Cleaner over a weekend.

A week later, WOCA Exterior Wood Oil in Hazelnut was applied, restoring a warm, rich colour while adding long-term protection against the elements.

The result: a refreshed façade without sanding, saving both time and money while preserving the natural character of the bamboo.

Shortly after the renovation, the house was even featured on television in a program about building with bio-based materials — A great example of how sustainable architecture can be maintained just as sustainably as possible.
