What is PU coating / treatment?

PU (polyurethane) is a transparent and highly durable protective coating applied to the floor surface. The treatment creates a protective film that reduces wear and makes daily cleaning easier.

The result is a floor that retains its appearance for longer and requires less maintenance.

How to apply PU Coating – step-by-step

1. Clean the surface thoroughly

Before wet sanding, all previous surface treatments, dirt, contaminants, and maintenance residues must be removed in accordance with the flooring manufacturer’s recommendations.

2. Wet sand the floor

Wet sand the surface using a 400-grit abrasive (Bordeaux Red Pad) together with WOCA Hardfloor Intensive Cleaner diluted 1:10.

After sanding, remove the sanding slurry using WOCA Hardfloor Intensive Cleaner diluted 1:40 and immediately collect the liquid with a wet vacuum.

Important: Any microplastic residues generated during the sanding process must be disposed of according to local environmental regulations.

3. Prepare the PU Coating

Thoroughly mix WOCA Hardfloor PU Coating with the hardener before use. Allow the mixture to rest for approximately 10 minutes to activate the hardener fully.

Ensure the floor surface is completely dry before application.

Please note that linoleum floors typically require a longer drying time than vinyl and LVT surfaces.

Once mixed, the product must be applied within 4 hours.

4. Apply the coating

Apply the PU coating evenly using a suitable roller or applicator to achieve a smooth and uniform finish.
For optimal wear resistance and durability, we recommend applying two coats.
Allow the first coat to dry for 2-3 hours at normal room temperature before applying the next coat, if required.

The floor should remain free from traffic until the coating has cured sufficiently.
